I have always been fascinated by spirals.  A quick trip to my Web site will reveal many different artistic renditions of the double helix.  Perhaps the structure of the DNA molecule is what helped influence my decision to become a biochemist.  Who knows?  But when I paid a visit to New Smyrna Beach, Florida, made the short drive up to Lighthouse Point Park on the north side of the Ponce de Leon Inlet, and started my climb up the lighthouse stairway—I was amazed with this example of a spiral!
